Yoshiyuki Miyamae, the
ingenious designer now helming the brand, this season send out shrink-wrap
pleated dresses created out of a new house textile called steam-stretch, which
requires steam to achieve its intended shape.
The new textile created
pleating on sleeves, necklines, bodices, and more for both the long and short
dresses. Pleats also made their way onto the runway via jersey, while a slew of
puffer jacket and geometric print separates provided a texture counter-balance.
Issey Miyake has mastered many things, but if asked to single out one
technique, it would unquestionably be pleats.
