Karl Lagerfeld followed up his
latest Chanel Couture Collection, staged on a Chanel plane, with one staged in
a mineral cave (think models walking around giant mineral formations) for Fall
2012. In keeping with the stunning setting, there was an organic feel to the
dark textures and watercolor-like geometric prints that appeared like crystal
formations on dresses, coats, and separates.
Silhouettes were kept loose,
for a casual feel that was most notable with the wide-armed outerwear, while
feather embellishments and metallics added a futuristic feel to some of the
pieces, a direction underscored with the part bootie/part Mary Jane style shoes
the models wore.
