This season, Karan’s collection
was brimming with gorgeous blanket coats and wraps, blanket-like dresses,
kilt-like skirts, fringed shawls, and tailored suits. Fall 2012 then progressed
into a distinctly menswear-inspired line-up. No one can drape the way Donna
Karan can – the designer could wrap a simple piece of fabric around a model’s
body and she’d somehow make the seamless fabric look fantastic (and she's done
this whilst being interviewed on a number of occasions).
The contrast between the
loosely draped pieces that opened the show and the austerely tailored ones that
followed was quite striking, but no matter the silhouette, the results were
spot-on with a slew of truly breathtaking sculptural cocktail dresses.
