This season leather has been
incredibly hot on the runways, but it certainly won't be making an appearance
at Stella McCartney. That didn’t stop the designer from showing some of the
season’s most covetable faux leather and faux croc booties and pumps, both of
which came complete with a white platform. In keeping with accessories,
rectangular flat clutches – ironically the same silhouette seen at this
season’s Celine show – were the most notable of the Fall 2012 handbags, many of
which came textured. Texture was, in fact, a big part of the collection whether
it be via textured knit separates and dresses, jacquards, or embroidery, making
for an incredibly chic take on workwear McCartney is known for.
Made in a dark palette with an
emphasis on a beautiful midnight blue, silhouettes were more fitted than usual,
notably for outerwear, though trousers were kept loose. The swimwear-inspired
dresses that McCartney showed last Spring and last Fall were slightly
re-worked, especially at the arms, but still focused on accentuating the curves
of the female shape.
