Oscar de la Renta’s team
includes some of the fashion industry's most social media savvy people, so it’s
fitting that his Fall 2012 collection mixed elements that would appeal to both
ODLR’s core older conservative clientele as well as to the more youthful
demographic that has recently been taking an interest in his brand (thanks to,
for example, forward-thinking tactics like selling items exclusively on
Facebook).
The collection, by mixing
neutral, jewel, and icy tones, was
embellished with everything from jewels and paillettes to fur and fishnets –
this was no tame collection. Luxe in every sense of the word, bows, sparkles,
tulle, prints, and frilly details were bountiful making for a wonderfully
vibrant line-up that never felt too busy, thanks to spot-on styling. From the
day tweeds to the floor-length tulle gowns, Fall 2012 was wearable luxury at
its best.
