Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Spring 2012

For Spring 2012, the designer was inspired by the often daring sartorial choices of the late singer Amy Winehouse. Needless to say, a retro vibe, along with beehive 'dos, winged eyeliner, and a model smoking a cigarette all took to the catwalk.

While there were plenty of slip dresses and lace details, there were also a number of highly structured pieces including tightly cinched bustiers, bodysuits, and the requisite cone bras. Loosely draped jackets and belted roomy trousers added a masculine touch to the 50s/60s pin-up girl looks and for their final walk down the runway, all the models were outfitted in black silk veils – one imagines in honor of Winehouse – as they walked out in front of an audience that included Catherine Deneuve and Dita Von Teese.
